Controls for Chemical Substances
Both the Oyama Factory and Ichihara Factory utilize ethylene oxide gas (EOG), which is widely used for sterilizing medical devices, in their product sterilization process.
While EOG is effective at low temperatures, it is also highly toxic. To mitigate its environmental impact, we detoxify EOG through combustion processes in dedicated facilities before releasing it.
Furthermore, JLL manages its products in compliance with laws, ordinances, and agreements of each country to ensure that no chemicals harmful to the environment or human body are contained in them. We are working to strengthen management of the chemicals contained in our products in collaboration with component suppliers, based on our internal green procurement standards.
Recycling of Industrial Waste
To build a recycling-oriented society, we are working on the reduction and reuse of waste, and are focusing on recycling. Our focus is on increasing the recycling rate by expanding the scope of industrial waste recycling. This includes recycling waste materials from the manufacturing process, expired products, and pallets used in distribution centers. In March 2025, the recycling rate at the three domestic factories reached 99%.We use platinum, rare metals, for the material at the tips of some of our catheter products. During manufacturing, any platinum discarded as waste is recovered and reused to ensure effective utilization.
